Policies and General Information

Age Requirements

Participants must be at least 14-years-old by the first day of the session they are attending, and must not turn 19 before the first day of the session they will attend. Anyone who does not meet the age requirements will not be allowed to register. Those who have graduated from high school but are still within the age requirements may attend the camp.

Medical Information/Special Needs

Any participant who requires special assistance or accommodations should provide this information during the registration process. For any additional concerns, please contact us at 801-422-5935. Special request made later than two weeks prior to the session start date may not be able to be accommodated.

Medical Treatment (Parental) Release Form

During registration, each youth must have his or her parent or guardian complete the medical release form completely and accurately. The parent/guardian must include his or her full name and emergency phone numbers, including cell phones, home phones, and any other number where he or she can be reached, day or night. Also required are the participant’s physician’s name and phone numbers and personal insurance information. If the participant is not covered by medical insurance, please write “none” in the space provided.

If a participant becomes ill and needs to be seen by medical personnel, the parents will be completely responsible for the costs incurred.

The parent/guardian must indicate any allergies his or her child has, and any medications the child currently takes. By completing this form, the parent/guardian authorizes BYU Continuing Education, or its representatives, to quickly treat his/her child in case of an emergency.

Photo Release

During the registration process all participants agree to the following terms:

"By registering in this program, I agree that my youth’s image may be used, with discretion, by Brigham Young University, or its assignees, for promotional purposes in print, web and video productions. I understand and agree that I have no expectation of compensation for this use."

Participants can request a roommate during the registration process. The roommate being requested must have previously registered for the program and shared their registration confirmation number* with the participant.

For two participants to successfully be assigned as roommates, the following criteria must be met:

  • Both participants must be of the same sex
  • Both participants must either be under the age of 18 or both be 18 years old (minor youth participants may not be roommates with an 18 year old participant)

To delete or change a roommate request:

  1. Visit cereg.byu.edu
  2. Log into the participant's account using their BYU Net ID and password
  3. Select Registrations and highlight Habits for LIfe
  4. Select Edit
  5. Select Housing
  6. Edit and save the roommate request

If a participant registered as a guest and does not have a BYU Continuing Education account or is have difficulty logging in and accessing the roommate options, please call our program registration department at 801-422-8925.

After making a roommate request or change we recommend logging out and then back into the registration account to confirm that the roommate request was successfully saved and appears accurately within the participants registration information.

All roommate requests must be finalized before the session registration closes at midnight mountain time of the Sunday two weeks before the session begins. Roommate requests or changes cannot be made after this date.

If a participant transfers from one session of this program to another after making a roommate request, the roommate link number remains tied to the original session. It will not transfer to the new session and will be rejected as invalid during the registration process for the new session of the same program. The roommate request will need to be started again.

Dorm housing will only accommodate two participants as roommates. A third roommate is not an option. Individual rooms (a participant requesting no roommate) is also not an option.

For this program, roommates are always assigned to the same team. Teams are created based on the participants age. If one roommate is older than the other, the pair will be assigned to a team comprised of the younger age participant.

BYU Standards

BYU is a private university owned by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS), whose general membership has committed to not using alcohol, tobacco, coffee or tea. Accordingly, no smoking or drinking of alcohol, coffee or tea is permitted on the BYU campus, though other caffeinated beverages are allowed.

BYU students also commit to an Honor Code that requires them to wear clothing that is neat, clean, and modest in fabric, fit, style and length. While on campus, those attending or participating in conferences also are asked to wear modest clothing. However, the facial hair restrictions required of BYU students do not apply to conference attendees.

We also ask that our program attendees keep their language free of obscenities and other vulgarity while on the BYU campus.

Thank you for helping us to maintain the standards that make BYU the exceptional university it is. We hope you enjoy your stay on campus.
